On 30 March 2010, our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal graciously attended an evening reception held aboard HMS Belfast for invited members of the Firefighters Memorial Trust. Following initial formalities over a hundred selected guests were individually presented to her Royal Highness, from our youngest member 17 year old Josh Clarkson to our oldest Sylvia Collins 90 years old this year and her Royal Highness spent over an hour talking the presented members. In his welcoming address, the Conducting Officer for this event, Mr Terry Glossop, was pleased to announce that on 17 March 2010, Her Majesty The Queen had been graciously pleased to grant a Royal Charter to the Firefighters Memorial Trust. The Master of the Worshipful Company of Firefighters, Geoff Morgan then presented the Firefighters Trust with a cheque, a donation raised from their annual fundraising Charity Ball.
